Black and White Photography

Saturday 24 June
3rd Ward - 10am - 2 Hours
Introduction to Black and White Photography. What makes a good Black and White shot? We will look at the contrast and using textures. How does the camera see the image and how do we create Black and White images in a camera or in post-production. We will look for some good examples and set some exercises. This is a more advanced course and assumes you understand the basics of photography and controlling your camera.

Industrial Landscape Photography

Industrial Landscape Photography

Saturday 08 July
KK River Trail - 10am - 2 Hours
We will be starting with an overview of landscape photography technique, how to decide what to take a picture of and how to compose shots, we will then move into settings and more technical challenges to get an idea of when the camera behaves best for landscapes. You can use buildings and other man-made structures compositionally in the same way other landscape photographers use trees and rolling hills. Wind farms, harbors, cement works, power stations, quarries, pylons and building sites are just a few of the industrial landscapes you can photograph. The industrial more grungy part of Milwaukee gives this opportunity for some nice shots.

It wasn't what I expected and that was good! The suggestions of choosing the right location, lens, pose, interaction with your model, were all invaluable.

This was my first event, and I'm a beginner - I don't even have a fancy camera. I had a lot of fun. The instructor was incredibly helpful, and the other participants were so friendly. Really nice to spend time with people with the same interest. I was able to ask all my questions, and I got really helpful information and several new ideas. Just an all around easy, casual, enjoyable experience.

I thought the class was great. I was excited about learning Photoshop. Though it was very intense (for me), I do not feel as intimitaed and look forward to learning more. The instructor was very patient and easy to understand.

This was excellent! Rebecca's engagement and expertise were incredibly helpful. Having a smaller group sized allowed for more 1:1 attention, creating a much more powerful learning experience!
